Sergio Margulis

Sergio holds Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from the University of London (1988), Masters degree in Statistics from the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics - IMPA (1981) and Bachelors degree in Mathematics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro - PUC-Rio (1977). His professional experiences includes the presidency of the State Environmental Agency - FEEMA/RJ and 22 years at the World Bank, with emphasis to the coordination of the study "Brazil Economics of Climate Change Study", developed in partnership with the British government. This study was a Bank input to the UNFCCC COP on climate change. Before working at IIS, Sergio was Secretary of Sustainable Development in the Secretariat of Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of Brazil (SAE/PR). He is also professor at the Professional Master in Sustainability Science, at the Department of Geography and Envioronment at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), in partnership with the Centre of Conservation and Sustainability Sciente of Rio (CSRio).
