Mapping Nature for People and Planet

Until September 29, the virtual event “Nature for Life Hub” promoted by the Convention on Biological Diversity and partners, will gather global and local leaders who will share stories about the importance of nature for sustainable development. The event will present solutions for policies, practical actions, and for communities, involving a wide range of sectors such as governments, companies, financial institutions, youth, and local communities.

On September 28, in the session “Mapping Nature for People and the Planet” the platform “Nature Map” – developed by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and whose IIS is a partner – will be presented. The platform displays global statistical maps of priority areas for conservation and restoration of natural systems, integrating biodiversity and carbon data. The objective is to help countries to operationalize targets for conservation and restoration of biodiversity and to reduce greenhouse gases.
