IIS and partners discuss acess to rural credit at Alta Floresta/MT

The International Institute for Sustainability, in partnership with the Center of Life Institute (ICV) and Bank of Brazil held an event about sustainable credit on May 22nd. The meeting in Alta Floresta/MT was attended by 25 participants, including rural producers, technicians from NATI Integrated Technical Assistance Center (NATI), students of the State University of Mato Grosso (Unemat) and technicians from accredited companies with the Bank of Brazil, as well as the general manager of the Bank of Brazil in Alta Floresta, Paul Beregula.

The main objective was to articulate connections between the actors of livestock chain involved with rural credit, destined to the implementation of good agricultural practices (GAP) and the sustainable intensification of livestock. The IIS team presented the results of a research conducted in the region, which identified the main barriers to the widespread implementation of rural credit. Then, the sustainable credit project for the micro-region of Alta Floresta was presented, aimed specifically to the producers of Programa Novo Campo.

All suggestions on rural credit raised at the meeting will later be analyzed by the Steering Committee of Programa Novo Campo.
