Thaís Andrade Ferreira Dória

Senior researcher

Thaís is a biologist from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and holds a Master's degree and a Ph.D. in ecology from the same institution.
She has experience in scientific research and environmental consultancy in the area of Systematic Conservation Planning (PSC) and processing of spatial data on biodiversity and ecosystem services, with an emphasis on analysis of spatial prioritization and gap analysis to evaluate the representation of conservation targets in protected areas. To this end, she uses geoprocessing and programming tools in the R environment, in addition to specific software.
She worked as a temporary professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Baiano (IFBAIANO) and as a conservation analyst at the National Center for Flora Conservation of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute (CNCFlora/JBRJ). As an environmental consultant, she has collaborated in the execution of projects with the Brazilian Foundation for Sustainable Development (FBDS) and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio).
At the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS), Thaís works as a senior researcher in the Spatial Modelling and Geoprocessing team, where she collaborates in the development of different projects that interface with spatial intelligence and data science in the areas of conservation, restauration, sustainable development and implementation of public policies.
