O Globo: IIS founders and researchers among the most influential Brazilian scientists in the world
The founders of IIS, Bernardo Strassburg and Agnieszka Latawiec, are among the most influential Brazilian scientists in the world. IIS Senior Scientist Álvaro Iribarrem and IIS Associate Researcher Fábio Scarano were also included in the ranking.
Released by the newspaper O Globo, the survey was carried out by Agência Bori and Overton, an international platform that works with science and public policy.
The report identified 107 Brazilian researchers who have the greatest influence on decision-making worldwide. The list was based on citations in strategic documents, technical reports and advisory papers used by governments, international organisations and civil society groups.
Bernardo ranked 8th among the 107 most influential researchers, and also among the 50 Brazilian scientists with the highest number of citations related to “SDG 13: Climate Action”.
Collectively, the work of these 107 Brazilian researchers informed more than 33,500 public policy documents published since 2019.
