The search for natural regeneration in large-scale forest landscape restoration

The International Institute for Sustainability held on 19th, 20th and 21st of November the workshop “The Role of Natural Regeneration in Large-scale Forest Landscape Restoration: Challenge and Opportunity”. The meeting, restricted to the participation of guests and will gather researchers, government, business and non-governmental organizations – from Brazil and other countries – discussed the role of natural regeneration in forest restoration.

The workshop was organized by International Institute for Sustainability, World Resources Institute, International Union for Conservation of Nature and PARTNERS, with the support of the Rio Botanical Garden, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Conservation on Biological Diversity and Atlantic Forest Restoration Pact.

The next step will be to produce a report with the resolutions of the workshop and organise other meetings to discuss the role of natural regeneration in restoration policies on a global scale.
