Julia Niemeyer

Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis Specialist

Julia is biologist by the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). She attended to one year of the Masters in Biodiversity Functional Behavioral and Evolutionary Ecology at the Rennes 1 University in France (Master 1 - EFCE) and holds a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Ecology by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She has experience with computational modelling for biodiversity and ecosystem services, and with geospatial analysis using GIS, R and GEE environments. Her research focuses on the effects of land use and climate changes on socioenvironmental security, and on systematic planning for environmental conservation and restoration, to generate relevant information for socio-environmental policies.
At IIS, she acts as a researcher specialized in Geographic Information System, Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis.
