This document is the result of an extensive literature review on Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) in Brazil and presents guidelines on this topic to decision makers from different spheres. The document presents recommendations on (i) how to optimize the main benefits of FLR for environment and society, and ii) how to optimize the success of FLR projects, with focus on forest restoration strategies, practices and actions. These guidelines are part of the project “Pró-restaura: Unlocking economic opportunities to scale Forest and Landscape Restoration in Brazil”, executed by the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) in partnership with the World Resources Institute (WRI) Brazil, and financed by the International Climate Initiative of Germany (IKI; Internationale Klimaschutzinitiative).
