Ten Years of The Atlantic Forest Restoration Pact (PACTO)

On December 6th, the PACTO celebrated 10 years of existence in a ceremony in Belo Horizonte (MG), which counted with 70 of its members.

The event included a presentation of PACTO’s 10-year results and products, the launch of the Protocol of Intent, in partnership with Sobre; the launch of the PACTO Geospatial Platform and partnership with MapBiomas and a presentation of the Activity Development Programs and Activities of the Regional Units.

The IIS associate Renato Crouzeilles, is one of the representatives of PACTO’s geospatial working group (WG) and attended the ceremony on behalf of IIS, where recorded the podcast “Launch of the Restoration Decoration Challenge” along with the teacher from ESALQ / USP, Pedro Brancalion.

PACTO was created in 2009, with the objective of recovering 15 million hectares of the Atlantic Forest by 2050. Through the articulation of public and private agencies, such as governments, companies, the scientific and land use community, it acts in the restoration and conservation of biodiversity, in the 17 states of the biome.

IIS is a PACTO member since 2009 and has been on the board for the third time in a row, as well as being represented on the Economy and Public Policy work group by the IIS CEO, Bernardo Strassburg, as one of its leaders.
