IIS and partners have contributed to the development of one chapter of the book “Beyond the ecological restoration. Social Perspectives in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
With great satisfaction, the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) was invited to participate in this publication, which focused on the social perspectives of ecological restoration, organized by Mexican authors. Coordinated by Luisa Lemgruber (IIS), the Institute in partnership with renowned Brazilian researchers, wrote a chapter for the book “Beyond the ecological restoration. Social Perspectives in Latin America and the Caribbean”. The book addresses social aspects of ecological restoration, including theoretical reflections and representative case studies in eleven countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, including Brazil. Some of the topics covered by the book are: the impacts of ecological restoration projects on the surrounding communities, restoration based on environmental education, restoration as a tool for human rehabilitation, agroforestry systems for rural landscapes restoration, among others. In February 2017, it will be available in English.
